Bringing in the New Year in London

Our New Year’s Eve sit with Claire and her family felt like stepping into the heart of London’s magic. Their beautiful black Labrador pup, Halloumi, quickly stole our hearts with his playful energy and his soft, snuggly ways. Though still young, he had that gentle, loving nature that made every walk, cuddle, and shared moment so memorable.
Days with Halloumi often began in the parks nearby, his excitement bubbling over as he bounded through the open spaces. The city felt alive yet softened by those moments of connection, just us and him, watching the world move around us at its own fast pace while we found our own rhythm in the quieter corners of London.
New Year’s Eve itself was unforgettable. As the clock struck twelve, fireworks lit up the sky across London, bursting into colour and sound while we stood together, watching the night brighten with promise. Halloumi curled close, calm and trusting even in the noise, as if he knew he was safe in our little circle.
There was another highlight of our time in London, one that meant the world to Nathan. It had long been his dream to see the new Tottenham Hotspur stadium, so as a late Christmas gift, I surprised him and Dylan with a behind-the-scenes tour. It became a true boys’ day out. They explored the changing rooms, walked the grounds, and soaked in every detail of the stadium. From the photos and stories they brought back, I could feel their excitement as though I’d been there too. To see Nathan’s dream come to life, and Dylan’s eyes widen with wonder beside him, was a gift in itself.
Claire and her family welcomed us so warmly, and Halloumi’s presence made it all the more special. A pup with a big heart, a city alive with light, and a New Year wrapped in laughter and love.
Reflection from the road: This sit reminded us that magic often comes in the moments we share, a pup’s quiet snuggle, fireworks bursting across the city, or the joy of seeing a loved one’s dream finally come true. Even when you’re not part of the adventure itself, the happiness of the people you love can become your own.
