Our Heart-warming Stay in Otford: A Truly Memorable Experience

As nomads, every new house and pet sit is an opportunity for us to experience a new corner of the world while connecting with amazing pets and homeowners. Our recent sit in Otford, a charming village nestled in the heart of Kent, was no exception. We were lucky enough to be entrusted with looking after a beautiful home and three delightful cats.

Otford: A Picturesque Village

Otford is a quaint village with a rich history, located just a short train ride from London. Known for its stunning countryside and serene atmosphere, it's the perfect place for a peaceful getaway. The village itself is dotted with traditional cottages, vibrant green spaces, and local shops that make it a welcoming place for visitors and residents alike.

During our stay, we took the opportunity to explore the village and its surroundings. Whether it was strolling through the Otford Palace or hiking the nearby trails, every day in Otford felt like a mini adventure. We even found a cozy café where we could enjoy a warm drink while watching the local life unfold—truly the essence of village living!

Our Experience With the Home and Pets

The homeowners we were sitting for were incredibly welcoming and provided us with all the information we needed to ensure a smooth and enjoyable stay. They had three adorable cats, each full of personality, and it didn’t take long for us to form a strong bond with them. They were adventurous cats who loved to play in the large gardens and were kind enough to bring a few little presents (mice) to the doorstep each day.

Family Fun: A Visit From the Grandparents

One of the highlights of our time in Otford was when my parents came to visit for the day. We made the most of the sunny weather, spending the day outdoors in the beautiful garden. Dylan had so much fun playing games and playing in the pool, soaking up the warmth. It was the ideal setting for a family gathering!

Later, we all enjoyed a delicious BBQ together, complete with juicy burgers, grilled vegetables, and, of course, plenty of laughs. It was a wonderful way to create memories, and having the chance to share that special day with family made our time in Otford even more unforgettable.

Our time in Otford was a much-needed break, and it reinforced the reasons why we love the life we lead as house sitters and world-schoolers. The welcoming village, the wonderful homeowners, the charming pets, and the special family time all made this sit incredibly special.
