Returning to Vicky and Dave’s felt like coming back to familiar ground, though this time the rhythm of the house had changed. Jet was no longer with us, and his absence was felt in quiet ways, in the forest walks where he once set the pace, and in the stillness of the house where his gentle presence used to linger.
Perla, their beautiful Greek rescue, carried the energy of the home now. Playful, loving, and always ready for a cuddle or a game of ball, she filled the days with warmth and light. With summer sun overhead, we took longer walks through the countryside, her joy reminding us of how life renews itself even through change.
The boys found adventure everywhere. Nathan and Dylan took one of their “boys’ days out” to the Devil’s Punch Bowl, exploring its dramatic landscape and soaking in the views. Back at the house, the garden became their playground, table tennis matches, laughter, and plenty of time simply being together in the fresh air.
Evenings often stretched lazily in the garden, golden sunsets spilling across the sky, with Perla never far away. She had that rare ability to make you feel both comforted and alive at the same time — a reminder of the healing gift that rescue dogs so often bring.
It felt strange without Jet, but Perla’s presence reminded us that love continues, in new forms, with new rhythms.
Reflection from the road: This sit reminded us of how change moves through life. Though Jet’s absence was deeply felt, Perla carried her own light, filling the days with joy and love. In long walks, boys’ adventures, and quiet evenings at home, we learned that even when chapters close, the story continues in beautiful ways.
For Jet
Always remembered with love in the places he once walked.
